Meet the Pastor

Rev Dr Campbell Markham is from Perth, Western Australia, and has been a minister in the Presbyterian Church for over twenty-six years. He completed his Master of Divinity at Christ College, Sydney, and PhD research at the University of Western Australia in the field of French Protestant church history and translation. He recently commenced adjunct lecturing on the Reformation at Trinity Theological College in Perth.
Campbell is devoted to the systematic teaching of the Bible, Christian thought, and history, and has made 1 Corinthians 2:2 his life verse: "For I resolved to know nothing among you except Jesus Christ and him crucified."

In the early 1850s, the first Presbyterian worship services began in Perth and Fremantle, leading to the establishment of organized Presbyterianism in Western Australia in 1879.
In 1886, the first Presbyterian congregation was formed in Fremantle. The church eventually constructed the current building, opening in 1890. It has undergone various restoration efforts. The church celebrated 125 years of worship in 2011.
The congregation has faithfully worshipped together for nearly 140 years.
